Shadab, Nawab’s promotion is a solution for the immediate term: The strategies used in Srinagar have failed to convince Mohammad Hafeez:

Mohammad Hafeez, a former cricketer for Pakistan, has cast doubt on the strategy used by the administration of the Pakistan cricket team in advancing Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz in the batting order.

Shadab Khan was moved up to the No. 4 place for Pakistan’s match against New Zealand on Saturday. This came after the team suffered early exits from Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood.

The 61 runs that Shadab Khan and Babar Azam put together helped to get the innings back on track. After Shadab was run out for 34 off 22 balls, Mohammad Nawaz was brought in at number 5 to provide capable support for Babar. Pakistan completed the chase with 10 balls left in their allotment.

However, Hafeez did not agree with Babar’s idea of putting Shadab and Nawaz in front of Iftikhar Ahmed and Asif Ali in the order of priority.

He turned to Twitter to make the announcement, writing, “Promotion of @76Shadabkhan at no 4 and @mnawaz94 at no 5 may offer short term success but will create extra strain and concerns in the minds of middle order batters.” Why are they there there??? If we don’t have faith in them, then why are they still a part of the team? The middle order will continue to be a problem… #PAKvNZ”.

“He played well [on Shadab at 4], therefore we have a strategy to put him up to charge the bowlers,” the captain said. Babar Azam subsequently elaborated on the reasoning behind the decision, saying, “Me and Shadab arranged that I would play all the way and he would go for his shots.”
