“Iss team ko credit dena chaiye” for beating a billion-dollar squad is what Ramiz Raja said after the match between India and Pakistan
Srinagar: The Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja, has said that credit should be given to the current Pakistan squad for their victory against a billion dollar team like India in the World Cup.
Up until October of this past year, India had never lost against Pakistan in any of their World Cup encounters, winning all 12 of those matches, including seven One-Day Internationals and five Twenty20 Internationals.
Pakistan, on the other hand, has come out on top twice out of the three occasions these two teams have competed against each other in the last year, claiming victory in both the opening match of the 2021 Twenty20 World Cup and the 2022 Asia Cup.
Ramiz said in an interview with Dawn that a match between India and Pakistan is more of a mental war than a physical one, and that this interview took place barely two weeks before the T20 World Cup 2022 match in Melbourne.
“Skill aur talent se zyada mental match hota hain yah. So agar aap temperamentally strong he and mentally concentrated he aur haar manne ko taiyar nahi hain toh chhoti team bhi badi team ko hara sakti hain. And Pakistan humesha se underdogs rahein hain jab bhi India se muqabla huye hain, but of late, unhone hume respect dena shuru kardiya hain kyunki unke khayal me yeh hain ki Pakistan hume kabhi hara hi nehi sakte. So yehi main kehta hu ki Pakistan ko credit dijiye kyunki ek billion-dollar team cricket industry ko hum harate he. Because of this, India has never been able to win a World Cup. The tournament is named after me. “I want to give thanks to this squad because, despite having less resources than India, they were still able to be ready for the match and play tagda muqabla,” he remarked.
The first match for India in the Twenty20 World Cup 2022 is set to take place on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia against Pakistan.
