Congratulations are extended to former international player Arun Malhotra by Downtown Heroes FC.
Arun Malhotra, a former international player for J&K, was recently selected to a position on the Technical Committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The prominent J&K football club, Downtown Heroes FC, in Srinagar, congratulated Malhotra on the appointment.
Mushtaq Bashir, the founder of Downtown Heroes FC, and Hinan Bhat, the other founder of the club, met with Arun Malhotra in Srinagar on Wednesday to discuss the expansion of football in Jammu and Kashmir. Arun, an employee of ONGC, is now on a private trip to Kashmir, where he has been connecting with aspiring football players as well as other young athletes.
Downtown Heroes said that it is a source of pride to have a player from J&K represented on the top committee of the AIFF, while at the same time referring to Arun as a legend of J&K football.
Malhotra was informed by officials from Downtown Heroes FC about the present state of football in Jammu and Kashmir as well as the operations of the team.
They also spoke with Arun about the ways that they might improve the club and help it establish a reputation for itself in the Indian football world.
“We congratulated Arun on his selection to the AIFF Technical Committee, and we met with him to show our appreciation. It is quite encouraging to have our hometown hero serving on the AIFF Committee. Mushtaq Bashir believes that it would be beneficial to the growth of the game in Jammu and Kashmir.
“During our conversation with Malhotra, we also covered a variety of topics relating to football in J&K. We also brought up the point that there has been no J&K squad competing in the I-second League’s tier for the last two seasons. Arun has given us his word that he would discuss these concerns with those who are relevant,” the man stated.
